Tabor Retreat House is a quadrangle of five buildings located on an island in a cypress and tupelo swamp. Registration for most events is held in Oustalet Hall, the administrative office building for Saint Charles Center. It is named for the Oustalet Family of Lake Arthur whose generosity made the building possible.
On the west side of the quadrangle are located two guesthouses, Cramers Hall and Peeters Hall, named for pioneering pastors of Southwest Louisiana. Each guesthouse has a small kitchen, a conference room that accommodates 36, and eighteen rooms with private baths. While single occupancy is the norm for many programs, the rooms have two single beds that allows for double occupancy. Each guesthouse has a library overlooking the water as well as a screened porch for smokers. The guesthouses may be rented separately or together.
Brulet Hall is located on the East side of the quadrangle. Named for Dr. W. J. Brulet, a Lake Charles dentist and a longtime promoter of retreats as well as a major donor to the Saint Charles Center, Brulet Hall houses a conference room and dining room. Both have a capacity of 120. This facility may be rented for conferences and banquets in addition to retreats.
The Chapel of the Assumption is on the north side of the quadrangle. It accommodates 120 at maximum usage. The Chapel is all glass on the north side overlooking the swamp. Many have found this the most peaceful place in the retreat house.
